Those of you who’re old enough to reflect upon the 1980’s will probably truly be able to realize just how far video gaming has come. Once the sole places to obtain remarkable gaming experiences would have been in entertainment arcades, while home gamers were playing a much more inferior product.

The Sony PSP and PSP Go are set to welcome a new game later this year with the release of Metal  Gear Solid: Peace Walker.  The fabled gaming franchise returns to the portable system in this  highly anticipated game. Remember we have seen Metal Gear Solid for the PSP  before, with Portable Ops a few years ago, but this will be the first  instalment that will be directed by the mastermind behind the famous franchise; Hideo  Kojima, and this can only be a nice portent. 

This game is set after the occurrences of Metal Gear Solid 3, with gamers returning to control the original Snake, who has become ‘Big Boss’.  Unlike Portable Ops, this game is  considered as official canon within the Metal Gear Solid franchise universe.  The  gameplay follows the basis set out by prior games, with a  large focus around subterfuge.  The over-the-shoulder angle displayed  in Metal  Gear four debuts in Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, creating a mixture of the finest parts of past games. 

The  gameplay centres around a co-op core, by following suit with most of our  current games in placing emphasis on co-operation.  This is implemented thr ough Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker in single player campaigns and multiplayer  games, with a variety of alternate ‘Snakes’ to choose between.  These  variations go from a stealth bias to heavy weapons expert, allow ing players to co-ordinate a well balanced group. 

The game marks the first of  two titles being released into the Metal Gear universe during this year, with the Raiden-centric Metal Gear Solid Rising being released on next gen consoles in the future.  Kojima  productions have made one fantastic game in Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, collating all classic  elements of previous games into an innovative new gameplay.  The game’s audio and graphics are polished to the highest level and the plot seems, as  expected, completely epic.
